"SWITCH THE HUSTLE" BY SHIRIN: FROM FELON TO FOUNDER - A JOURNEY OF RESILIENCE, REINVENTION, AND REENTRY

LONG BEACH, CA – Shirin, an entrepreneur and Justice reform Advocate born a refugee to Palestinian and Egyptian refugees, is leveraging her three-decade of entrepreneurship experience to craft a transformative guide for justice-impacted individuals. Her book, "Switch the Hustle," serves as a roadmap, leading justice-impacted individuals or those who are "hustling" to switch their hustle from felon to founder.

The book provides a step-by-step guide for starting a business and helps readers navigate legal, financial, and strategic hurdles. Key chapters include “Marking Your Territory,” which talks about copyright and trademark; “Penning the Blueprint,” where she details how to create a business plan; “Beyond the Block,” which introduces readers to government contracts; and “Show Me the Money Bag,” where she provides insights into securing business funding.

In addition to these core chapters, Shirin has bonus content that guides readers in securing funding for vocational training and turning skills into a successful business – whether in trucking, the food industry, or any trade of their choice.

Throughout “Switch the Hustle,” Shirin weaves in the importance of mental health, emphasizing healing for her readers who often grapple with trauma. “This journey is as much about making money as it is about healing. We cannot truly prosper until we address the wounds of our past,” she states.

As the Executive Director of Ronnie’s House, a Nonprofit focused on Justice Reform and Youth Mentorship,  Shirin has spearheaded significant change in reentry policy in Long Beach, CA, established the city’s first business accelerator, and launched the first of its kind Reentry Resource Website www.reentrykeys.com to support LA County residents. The resource website connects Justice Impacted individuals, foster care youth and families to resources and jobs. It will be expanding nationally and entering prisons, allowing individuals to create a release plan before their release.

“Justice-impacted individuals have 40% more chance of starting a business because opportunities are slim to rebuild their lives, but they often lack the knowledge and tools to support their success. We must pay attention that 90% of laws are money-related, yet individuals cannot get a barber license in most states after incarceration. Hence, the revolving door of recidivism continues  Comments Shirin.

Presales for “Switch the Hustle” begin on July 29, 2023, marking what would have been the birthday of Shirin’s late husband, Ronnie Senegal, who tragically lost his life to gun violence in 2016. The full release is set for September 2023, with the book available via Amazon and other major book retailers.

In a move of profound generosity, Shirin invites sponsors to join her mission by purchasing books to donate to justice-impacted individuals, both those still serving sentences and those reintegrating into society. Furthermore, she pledges to donate 20% of all book proceeds to “Rising Entrepreneurs,” a program in partnership with California State University, Long Beach, fostering entrepreneurship among justice-impacted individuals.
